Queenstown Casino Mobile Access in New Zealand

SkyCity Queenstown operates as a land-based casino without mobile app downloads available.

Accessing Queenstown Casino on Mobile

We’re right in Queenstown’s CBD, at 8 Beach Street. At the moment, there is no dedicated Queenstown Casino app to download for either APK or iOS devices. All casino play here happens in person - you need to be at the venue during our open hours to take part.

We open daily from 11am to 1am. Only three days a year our doors close: Christmas Day, Good Friday, and from midnight until 1pm on Anzac Day. Betting from home or through an app isn’t possible at our Queenstown property, and the SkyCity group runs separate sites online. If you want digital gaming, those platforms are under different rules and require a separate sign-up.

Casino Floor and Games

Inside there’s plenty happening. The casino floor offers 8 regular tables and 4 for VIP guests. On the slots side, you’ll find 86 gaming machines to try your luck on. Local regulations set the ceiling at 339 machines and up to 23 tables - so room for expansion exists.

Table game choices include three classics. We run blackjack with the usual house approach - betting limits are always clearly posted on the table. Roulette here uses single-zero European wheels. Midi Baccarat lets several players join in, banker wins take a commission.

On our machines, stakes start at just a cent. There are both modern video slots and old-school mechanical reels, plus electronic terminals. For sports fans, live TAB betting on NZ and global events works onsite too.

SHOW Rewards Loyalty Program

If you’re looking for perks, every visit counts. With our SHOW Rewards program, every SkyCity venue in New Zealand keeps track of your play. Membership is free for anyone at least 20 years old - signups only happen on-site.

How to join:

  1. Stop by the rewards desk (during open hours).
  2. Bring valid photo ID.
  3. Fill out a form with your contacts.
  4. Get your card on the spot.
  5. Insert or present your card before each play.

All New Zealand and Australian driver’s licenses, passports or official government photo IDs are fine, as long as they aren’t expired and show you’re at least 20. Points add up based on how much and how often you play. We offer tiered rewards - the more you play, the sweeter the deals. Points can be used for meals at Wild Thyme Bar & Kitchen, bonuses, or invites to special events.

Hours and Venue Entry Rules

Standard hours are 11am to 1am, every day except full closure at Christmas and Good Friday. On Anzac Day there’s a break from 12 midnight to 1pm. Age checks at the door are tight - 20+ only, including at the Wild Thyme and event rooms. Security will always check IDs.

Dress code: neat but relaxed. Smart casual is the rule. Management can refuse entry for the usual reasons: poor dress, bad behaviour, intoxication. No entry ever for people who’ve excluded themselves.

Physical Casino Gaming Only

Queenstown Casino operates exclusively as a physical venue in Queenstown’s CBD without dedicated mobile apps for APK or iOS download. The casino features 8 standard gaming tables plus 4 VIP tables, alongside 86 gaming machines currently in operation.

Operating hours run from 11am to 1am daily, except Christmas Day, Good Friday, and restricted hours on Anzac Day. Table games include Blackjack, Roulette, and Midi Baccarat with clearly posted betting limits.

  • Wild Thyme Bar & Kitchen operates within the complex
  • SHOW by SkyCity rewards program available for members aged 20+
  • Maximum capacity authorized for 339 gaming machines and 23 tables
  • TAB betting services available on-site

All gaming activities require physical presence at the venue with valid photo identification for age verification.

Details on Table Games

At blackjack, our dealer stands on soft 17. Players can double on any two cards, splitting is allowed within limits, and you can take insurance if the dealer shows an ace. Bet sizes vary, check the placards at each table.

Roulette uses the 37-number European wheel. Place inside bets like straight, split, or street - or go outside for red/black, even/odd. Payouts vary from even money up to 35:1 for a straight-up win.

Midi Baccarat seats up to 9 people. Banker, player or tie bets possible each round. A “natural” 8 or 9 pays instantly unless both sides have one. Banker wins pay 0.95 to 1 (that’s after a 5% commission).

Gaming Machines

All 86 machines allow base bets from 1 cent to 5 dollars. Video slots offer anything from 9 to 50 lines per spin, and fans of classic reels aren’t left out. Play requires cash or loading your SHOW card in advance. Winnings are printed as vouchers, easily used in any machine or cashed out at the cage.

Some of our machines share progressive jackpots - prizes can grow big, and eligibility usually means playing the maximum stake shown above the machine.

VIP Room Features

In our private VIP area, four tables are set aside for high-tier SHOW Rewards members and those invited by managers. Here, regulars find more privacy, steeper betting limits, personal dealers and their own drinks service. This room normally keeps the same hours as the main floor, but appointments might be possible for special cases.

Who gets in depends on previous play and average stakes. Ask a supervisor or stop by main reception if you want to know more.

Our Approach to Responsible Gaming

We have strict responsibilities as a licensed casino in New Zealand. Our staff trains regularly to spot and help with gambling problems. There’s a voluntary self-exclusion scheme, and family members can request a ban for someone too. You’ll find materials around the casino for support, and anyone seeing problems can talk directly to staff. We connect straight to the confidential Gambling Helpline at 0800 654 655, available all hours.

People can process self-exclusions at the manager’s office - paperwork and a photo required. You’ll get a formal trespass letter, and entry won’t be allowed to any SkyCity property for the term chosen.
