Gaming Floor and Table Options

We welcome players at two casino locations in Queenstown. You’ll find our main hub with 86 gaming machines and 12 tables, plus our Steamer Wharf venue holding 74 gaming machines and 6 tables. Both places are under SkyCity Entertainment Group. On our floors, Blackjack, Roulette, Midi Baccarat, and Caribbean Stud Poker are staples, and plenty of electronic machines are always humming.

Table minimums vary depending on the time of day and your player tier. Gaming machine denominations range from low-value to high-value units. All gaming transactions, whether at tables or machines, require your SHOW by SkyCity card. Players must present their SHOW by SkyCity card or valid Premier Rewards card to play table games; the dealer will request the card before play begins.

Our staff are available to guide first-time players through table rules and gaming machine procedures. Entry points accommodate both beginner and experienced players. Select your gaming machine denomination based on your budget.

Entry Requirements and Hours

Doors open daily at 12noon and we run until 4am, except for Christmas Day, Good Friday, and between 12am-1pm on Anzac Day. You’ve got to be at least 20 to come in, the same goes for drinking in our bars, and we’ll check ID no matter how old you look.

Use of false identification is prohibited and subject to legal penalties under New Zealand law. Security checks IDs at the entrance, and again at the gaming floor by our team. Please show up looking neat - shoes are a must, and dress code matters. We’ll turn you away for anything that doesn’t hit the mark.

SHOW by SkyCity Rewards

Swipe your SHOW card while you play and automatically earn points. Your SHOW by SkyCity rewards card can be used across SkyCity Entertainment Group venues. It works for both machines and tables, and your tier grows as you play more.

Quick Pay means you can load funds straight onto your card and play nonstop at any machine. Points build based on game and turnover, but for tables, always hand your card to the pit staff before getting started.

Monitor your rewards status at kiosks located near the main entrance. You can redeem points for food credits at Wild Thyme, event tickets, or promotional entries. Don’t forget: points do expire, so ask our team or check programme details when in doubt.

Registration takes approximately five minutes at the entrance desk, with cards issued immediately.

Wild Thyme Bar and Kitchen

Wild Thyme Bar & Kitchen serves meals and beverages to casino guests and walk-in customers. From quick snacks to full plates, our kitchen runs all opening hours. Choose from regular spirits, wine, beer, or stick with something non-alcoholic - all available at the bar.

The same 20+ age rule for alcohol applies, no exceptions. Our staff uphold host responsibility standards, so they’ll cut off the drinks if someone has had enough. Tables are set up for both quick bites and longer hangs. SHOW members use points for food credits right at the counter. Reservations are relaxed, but if you’re arriving with a larger crew during the busier seasons, letting us know beforehand helps.

TAB Betting

We run TAB betting in-casino for horse races, harness events, and greyhound meets - both local and beyond New Zealand. Place your bets at self-serve terminals or at the TAB counter.

TAB runs separately from our gaming, so your SHOW card doesn’t link with betting activity or deposits. Watch the action on big screens in the TAB area and take care to cash in winning tickets before their expiry date.

Problem Gambling Support

For those needing a break, we offer self-exclusion from our Queenstown casinos - anywhere from three months to a permanent ban. Friends or family worried about someone’s play can start a third-party exclusion, though documentation and ID checks are needed for this.

SHOW accounts can be set up with deposit limits, time limits, or loss limits. Limits you set take effect right away, but increasing them comes with a built-in cooling-off period. We post the Gambling Helpline 0800 654 655 visibly around the venue for anyone needing help - it’s independent and confidential. Brochures are at membership desks and close to the ATMs.

Visit Planning

Queenstown’s heavy tourist traffic shifts throughout the year, especially during ski season and summer. Parking gets tighter around events and holidays, so check ahead or consider public transport or taxis - our locations are well-known around town. SKYCITY Queenstown venue is centrally located close to other bars and attractions in Queenstown.

We don’t have a currency exchange on-site. If you’re visiting from overseas, you’ll want to grab your New Zealand dollars beforehand at your bank or the airport, but our ATMs inside can supply NZD (standard banking fees apply).
